An offensive pass interference screwed the Baltimore Ravens and a legion worth of bookies this weekend. There’s nothing more indicative of why the replacement officials should be replaced than this. Surely the Philadelphia Eagles deserve the victory, especially after a hard fought game, but not like this. But riffing over the Eagles-Ravens was just one of at least three games that I thought were in the bag this week and caused quite a bit of facepalming.
The other so-called locks? Those New England Patriots I tend to cover were a bit favored over the Arizona Cardinals. That was a big wake-up. But I was also eyeballing Dallas over Seattle, a 27-7 loss for the ‘Boys, that falls into the category of “$@!*”. Not much made sense there except to say, once again, you can never really trust Tony Romo. I feel like Jessica Simpson all over again.
And despite all this, I went 10-6 in Week 2. That’s a +2 improvement over Week 1. I’m still getting a feel for the season and I’m officially watching the Seahawks as well as the rest of the NFC West more closely. (Can you believe the St. Louis Rams beat the Washington Redskins? …. Yeah, me neither.) And who knew the New Orleans Saints would start the season 0-2. While more research is always necessary going forward, it appears a ouija board will be just as needed as well.
Anyways, with the wackiness of Week 2 out of the way, here’s my picks for Week 3, which will definitely be wiser, but probably not much better. Enjoy.
