The 49ers surprised everyone outside of Minnesota by losing to the Vikings. OK, maybe in Minnesota too.
I don’t think anybody thought the San Francisco 49ers would lose to the Minnesota Vikings. Let alone by two scores. Add in the Arizona Cardinals’ dismantling of the Philadelphia Eagles (I actually picked the Cardinals to win, but I didn’t suspect it would be like this), the Raiders’ surprising win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans falling to 0-3, and, of course, Seattle’s game-stealing touchdown by Golden Tate, a.k.a. “The Inaccurate Reception.”
It’s really tough to get a gauge on the league when both the Raiders and the officials are screwing you. Add in three overtime games, a Sunday night contest in Baltimore that kept me up through 4 a.m., and it was a crazy week. I went 9-7 though, and I have a greater respect for Arizona and the Cincinnati Bengals. See, people can change.
