I’m excited to announce I’ve joined The Baltimore Banner as a digital producer.
I’m taking this on in addition to my work as the owner and principal producer at ZMC Podcasts (Zuri Media & Consulting).
The last three years have been a roller coaster for my family. And we’ve just added a baby to the mix. Right now, we’re riding the wave of joy that has come with this new opportunity. Not only do I get to spend more time in a city I’ve come to love and where I have so many friends, but I also get to take part in one of the most significant journalism experiments happening in the country right now.
I can’t envision a better opportunity than helping The Banner as it moves toward a sustainable business model and contributing to a newsroom that has already done stellar, impactful journalism. (Check out The Banner’s selection of impactful works here.)
So, I’m thrilled to get started and help sharpen, shape, and build something great.
And, of course, I’m thrilled to work with my new colleagues. The organization is exploding with talented people who have risked a lot to take part in this startup, which just launched in June 2022. So, I’m excited to get to know them, soak up their wisdom, and find a way to help as much as possible.
If you’re so inclined, subscribe to The Banner to support its work in Baltimore.
For my ZMC clients, you can expect the same level of service without interruption. I’ll have more details on my availability in the days and weeks ahead, but don’t expect my responsiveness to drop off. This new opportunity is expected to be complementary to what I already do. And if anything changes, I’ll let you know first.
Joining The Banner follows stints I’ve had in digitally-focused roles in Washington, D.C., North Carolina, Massachusetts, and California. I have been an online community manager, a content producer, a manager of web content, and a managing editor for news and digital over the years. This new role takes advantage of my experience at legacy institutions across newspapers, radio, TV, and podcasting.
